Our basketball Classopoly reward with Year 2

A few photos from our tessellation and Greek mosaic topic last term!

Circuits in PE!

Over the past few weeks, we have been working on improving our fitness in Year 5 by completing circuits. There were 7 different exercises in each circuit; sprints, quoit toss, ball roll, skipping, line jump, bean bag toss and long jump.

At the end of each exercise, we recorded our results in a table.

We then took these results and entered them in to Excel, where we made some fantastic graphs and charts!

This was a great PE topic Year 5, well done!

'Rags to Riches' and 'Overcoming the Monster'

This week in  Literacy we have been looking at two of the Seven Basic Plots by Christopher Booker. The two plots we have been working on are called 'Rags to Riches' and 'Overcoming the Monster'. In the comments section below you will find our stories to meet these plots. We hope you enjoy reading them!

Our maths in year 5 by Tullyanne, Rhys & Jay

In maths we are learning about capacity.
So, what is capacity? Capacity is how much a container can hold.

We have also been working on volume; this is Rhys working out the volume of a liquid.

These are the different challenges we have been working on this week.

And here are some examples of our work.

500 Word Challenge

Today we joined up with hundreds of schools across the country to watch a live stream from the BBC's 500 Word Challenge!

It was hosted by Alex Jones from The One Show and it featured the author Frank Cottrell Boyce. Mr. Boyce talked to us about how he finds inspiration for his stories and read us his own 500 Word Story.

There was also a group of students from a Scottish school who told us how our stories will be judged and what makes a great story.

Finally, Mr. Boyce answered some questions from the audience and gave us his top 3 tips for writing.

Frank Cottrell Boyce's Big 3 Writing Tips:
1. Think Big!
2. Just start!
3. Rewrite your work!

It was great!
